#15 – Impossible to Me
Lights up on a child playing: Leila. Charlotte has been neglecting Leila for a long time now, and instead she’s been preoccupied with ‘all things Simon’ (as, indeed, she is doing now). Charlotte is on her phone, fretting about the lack of contact.
Leila tries to get her mum’s attention, who is barely registering anything she says. She walks away dejected as the music starts. She just wants to make her mum happy, to fix things, and to feel loved and cared for. But how?
Charlotte snaps out of it part way through the song and hears Leila singing. Having never seen this side of her little girl before, Charlotte realises now that this is the moment to make a change in her life; it can’t go on any longer. Her daughter is the most important thing and she needs to refocus her attentions. All along, everything she needed was right in front of her, she just kept being distracted by toxic people and situations. As the song ends, Charlotte finally shakes herself free of her burdens.
